Long before we ever meet, there is an image, or "imago", that develops inside us as we grow from childhood to adulthood - a hidden picture, if you will, of exactly the type of person we need to find and fall in love with in order to create the unique dream relationship that will one day be ours. The blossoming of romantic love is the signal that we have found that someone.

That is, a willingness to seek knowledge about your relationship and to apply that knowledge as a way of starting an enduring, deeply satisfying partnership.

     Welcome to Imago - a method for building successful love relationships created two decades ago by psychologist Dr. Harville Hendrix. Imago teaches a new definition of couplehood, one based on collaboration, safety and mutual understanding.  Through Imago, couples gain both the tools and in-depth understanding needed to make a marriage better, deeper, richer and stronger as the years pass.

     Barbara Reichlin, a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in Houston and Bellaire, Texas, has utilized Imago in both her own marriage and in her work with couples for almost twenty years.   She offers three paths for you and your partner: a one-day Imago premarital educational seminar called Start Right, Stay Connected; private premarital counseling;and/or the full Imago Couples Weekend Workshop.

                                                      What is Imago?

     Imago is a theory of committed love relationships developed by Dr. Harville Hendrix and described in his NY Times best selling book, Getting the Love You Want, A Guide for Couples. Guided by the belief that romantic love is influenced by our past, Imago equips all couples with a powerful communication skill, (called the Imago Dialogue,) and an understanding of the deeper origins of ourselves, our partners and our relationships. Imago has been turned to by thousands of couples for over two decades.

     In the beginning, love is easy:  wake up in the morning and enjoy. Couples often worry about the glow fading, but actually this is the time when romantic love begins to be replaced with a more mature form of loving.  But it's not as easy as it once was:  sustaining love into the second stage of marriage now requires consciousness, communication tools, and on-going decisions that will determine whether your relationship grows stronger or grows apart. 

     Start Right, Stay Connected is a one-day, non-religious relationship education seminar for couples preparing to be married.

You will learn:

• Proven communication skills for a healthy marriage

• The stages of committed love relationships and what stage you're in now
  
  
• What ingredients both you and your partner are looking for in your "dream relationship"
  
  
• How to affair proof your marriage

**Special! Because this is a newly offered service, if you register for the Sept, Nov, or Dec. class prior to 8/31/09, the fee will be discounted to $200. After 8/31/09, tuition will increase to $300 for all premarital sessions.

                                    Private Premarital Counseling - $150/hr

     In four to six private con-joint sessions, couples preparing for marriage will learn the skils of effective communication via the Imago Dialogue; identify each partner's relationship style and unique ways of handling of potential conflict; gain an understanding of the deeper sources of their relationship; learn the secrets to sustaining romance and passion over the long haul; etc. Additional content is determined by the specific needs of each couple. The initial session is an hour-and-a-half; subsequent sessions may be either an hour or an hour-and-half.

                        The Imago Weekend Workshop for Couples - $700/couple

     This is the Imago two-and-a-half day intensive weekend workshop that has been attended by thousands of couples in Houston and most major cities since 1995. Not confined to premarital couples, this workshop is attended by those in all stages of relationship. Explore the deeper origins of your relationship, learn how to manage and resolve conflict, re-romanticize your relationship with infusions of high energy fun and positive energy.
